General Hux wants them executed by having them decapitated because Phasma thinks shooting them is too good. After getting to the tracking device, DJ reveals he is working for the First Order and Captain Phasma captures them. Rose gives up the necklace but it irritates Finn more than Rose. As payment for the services, DJ requires Rose's necklace. DJ is good to his word and gets them on board Supreme Leader Snoke's command ship without being caught. The person that they've recruited is just known as DJ. On Canto Bight, they find someone to help them but its not the person that Maz had told them to find. Rose and Finn come up with the idea to stop the The First Order from tracking the Resistance/Rebel Alliance through hyperspeed and took the plan to Poe Dameron Poe contacts Maz Kanata who advises them to go to the planet of Cantonica and the casino resort of Canto Bight to find a master code breaker. Finn pretended to not be escaping but Rose wasn't having it and ended up zapping Finn. When Finn had woken up after being unconscious from the battle on Starkiller Base, Finn attempted to flee in an escape pod where he meets Rose for the first time. Her job had been to zap and disable anyone who was planning on leaving by using a stick to disable them. The character's reduced role in the film was a major point of criticism for a lot of people, who saw it as giving in to those who did the racist and sexist attacks online against Kelly Marie Tran.Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) is a spaceship technician who was first introduced in Star Wars VIII - The Last Jedi. The Last Jedi was Tran's first film role, and she had never watched a Star Wars film prior to auditioning for the part. Rose was created by The Last Jedi writer and director Rian Johnson after he decided a subplot originally involving Finn and Poe Dameron needed a different dynamic.
